Robert E. Meade

The AAA-ICDR mourns the loss of Robert E. Meade, its former Senior Vice President, who passed away on January 8, 2024.

Bob joined the AAA in 1967 and dedicated forty-two years of his career to the AAA-ICDR. He began as the Regional Director in Syracuse, NY, before moving to our New York City office in 1973 as the Regional Vice President. In 1981, he was promoted to Vice President for Case Administration, where he expertly managed the administration the AAA-ICDR mediation and arbitration services.

Later, as the Senior Vice President of Program Development, Bob traveled coast to coast on a weekly basis to collaborate with companies and colleagues. He was instrumental in designing specialized dispute resolution programs for a variety of industries, including construction, employment, healthcare, bankruptcy, and financial services. He was also a respected faculty member on numerous ADR training programs for Fortune 1000 companies and industry groups. Along the way there were countless television network appearances, speaking engagements, prestigious awards, friendships established, and impressions made.

Above all, Bob was known for his leadership and kindness. Bob was considered an all-around great guy by all he helped, and an “institutional treasure” at the AAA. His respect and admiration for his colleagues were unmatched, earning him a reputation as a mentor and a friend to many in the field of alternative dispute resolution. We are forever grateful for his leadership and dedication to the AAA-ICDR and the field of alternative dispute resolution.
